How to Play
Mū Tōrere · Māori Strategy Game
- The board has 8 outer points (kewai) arranged in a star, and one central space (pūtahi). Each player has 4 pieces.
- Player 1's pieces start on points 0–3. Player 2's pieces start on points 4–7. The centre begins empty.
- On your turn, move one of your pieces to an adjacent empty space. Outer points are adjacent to their neighbours and to the centre.
- Key rule: A piece may only move to the centre (pūtahi) if it is adjacent to at least one of your opponent's pieces.
- A piece in the centre may move to any outer point.
- You cannot jump over pieces or move to an occupied space.
- The player who cannot move on their turn loses. Block your opponent to win!
